Parks & Green Spaces

In Pest, parks (City Park / Városliget, Margaret Island / Margitsziget, Orczy Park) are typically flat, built-up areas with many services and sports fields. In Buda, green spaces (Normafa, Gellért Hill) are typically more forested and mountainous, with less built infrastructure but a more nature-close experience.

In the summer heat, parks with large, old trees (Margaret Island, Városmajor) can typically be significantly cooler than recently renovated areas planted with young trees (e.g., certain new parts of City Park or Millenáris).

Running tracks, outdoor fitness parks, and public restrooms are well-developed in larger parks (Margaret Island, City Park, Bikás Park), while smaller district squares are typically only suitable for short rests sitting on a bench.
