30,000 – 50,000 HUF / night
Mid-range Hotel (3-4 stars):
45,000 – 75,000 HUF / night
Premium / Boutique Hotel:
From 80,000 HUF / night
City Tax (Idegenforgalmi adó):
In Budapest, a local city tax must be paid on top of the accommodation fee, typically amounting to 4% of the net room rate. Online booking platforms often do not collect this amount in advance, meaning it must be paid on-site upon arrival (in cash or by card).
Single supplement (Solo travel pricing):
Hotels and apartments are typically priced per room or per unit, rather than per person. As a result, solo travelers may face a proportionally higher cost, as single occupancy of a double room often provides only a minimal discount compared to the full room rate. Hostel dormitories remain the primary alternative offering strict per-person pricing.
Ground-floor apartments:
Apartments located on the ground floor of inner courtyards (often advertised as having a "courtyard view") may have limited natural light. Additionally, keeping windows open can make the movement and conversations of other residents more noticeable.
Photos vs. Reality:
On booking platforms, photos of historical apartments are frequently taken with wide-angle lenses, which can make spaces appear much larger than they are in reality. In apartments with loft beds (mezzanines), the ceiling height may not allow an adult to stand fully upright.
